Important before you leave

Opening dates and rest days can change because of weather, snow, maintenance or operational decisions. Always check the hut’s official channels immediately before setting off. An ‘open’ hut does not automatically mean overnight accommodation is available.

Why October is different

October can offer golden larches, cooler temperatures and remarkably quiet trails, but many summer services progressively close. Plan day hikes conservatively, check daylight and weather, and do not assume food, lifts or public transport will operate as in summer.
